Have you thought about WHY a company would use YOU………………rather than the myriad of alternatives to find and secure their next player?
Is it because you are better?
Do you do it faster?
Are your candidates Better? Who says? …………………………….You?
Or do the statistics report that when you make a placement that the company objectives get met?
Is it that you are totally enthralled with finding your client the next key player in their succession plan?
Well………………………what is it?
The REALITY is that there are a myriad of alternatives our clients have to fill their needs: they can hire a sourcer, they can use MONSTER (with their new assessment center) or some other cool, new wave job board or social network or they can partner with the thousands of selection partners portraying themselves as recruitment experts.
Or……………………..
they can call on YOU. The person who lives it every day, the person who talks to hundreds of people each week, the person who has their finger on the pulse of the job market. They can utilize you for a grass roots effort on securing the best talent out there today.
The Question is………………are you willing to RISK it………. to get them who surfaces….or the person who they really need ?
This could be a philosophical question with a spiritual or utilitarian answer……and frankly I don’t care what the answer is, however you ought to know up front how you are going to answer ……….for that alone will determine your operating practices as well as your perception in the marketplace.
Again, I am not judging, frankly I don’t give a hoot, I just think it is powerful to know your position and then stand by it, for better or for worse.(kind of like marriage…or at least what marriage used to be before it was convenient to throw it away)
So bottom line………..who are you? Are you offering anything worth having people hunt you down or are you the one on the hunt.
I say………….work smart…..life is short, if you are over 40 …max you have 40 years left, maybe 50…(that’d be fun) why not make those 40 years be filled with free time, fun, life experiences, family, travel…………you can if you make the choice to do so…………..send the right people out, save your time, save everyone else’s times…work from a context “how can I help my company/my client grow by what I do today?”
